KEAM: Kerala Engineering Architecture Medical Entrance — Overview

KEAM (Kerala Engineering Architecture Medical Entrance) is conducted by the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations (CEE), Kerala — an office established in 1983. KEAM admits students to engineering and pharmacy undergraduate programmes in Kerala's government and private self-financing colleges. The medical component was separated from KEAM after NEET became the national medical entrance, but the engineering and pharmacy papers remain under the KEAM banner.

KEAM moved to a computer-based test (CBT) format from 2025 onward. The exam covers Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics for engineering; a separate Pharmacy paper covers relevant subjects. CEE Kerala is one of the few state CET authorities that publishes question papers and answer keys openly (without login), making it a reliable official PYQ source.

KEAM moved to a single online CBT in 2024 — the old two-paper, 960-mark format is retired, so use only post-2024 papers to practise. Each question is +4 for correct and −1 for wrong. For engineering, the rank weights your Class 12 board marks alongside the exam. Confirm on cee.kerala.gov.in.

KEAM process: from application to allotment

  1. Apply during the registration window — KEAM registration is usually open from March onward. Fill the application on the CEE portal, select your stream (engineering or pharmacy), and upload documents.
  2. Appear for your exam — Engineering papers have been held in April (typically mid-to-late April); the Pharmacy paper runs close to the engineering dates. Download your admit card from the CEE portal.
  3. Check the answer key and raise objections — CEE releases the provisional key after the exam. Review it carefully — the 2026 final key deleted over 20 questions after objections. Only the final key score determines your result.
  4. Check your result and rank list — CEE publishes results and then the rank list (around June). Download and save both.
  5. Participate in centralised allotment — CEE Kerala conducts a centralised allotment process. Confirm the current cycle's allotment dates and process on the official portal.
