KCET vs COMEDK UGET: Which Karnataka Exam Should You Target?
Karnataka has two engineering entrance exams that often create confusion: KCET (run by the state government through KEA) and COMEDK UGET (run by a private consortium of colleges). If you are a Karnataka-domicile student from the state board, KCET is the primary exam because it gives access to government and government-aided colleges at lower fees. If you are from another state or from Karnataka but want additional options in private colleges, COMEDK UGET fills that gap with no domicile restrictions. Many students from Karnataka successfully write both exams in the same April–May window.
JEE Main ranks also used for some Karnataka NIT seats: Beyond KCET and COMEDK, note that JEE Main ranks are used for admission to Karnataka's NIT Surathkal and for state-quota NIT seats, as well as for the Centrally Funded Technical Institutions.
