When do state CET registrations typically open?
Registration timelines vary by exam. As a general pattern, KCET registration has opened in January for the April exam cycle; MHT-CET registration opens a few months before the April-May exam window; GUJCET registration is usually in late January to February; and WBJEE registration opens in late December to January. Exact dates change each year — always check the official portal for the current cycle.
What happens after the state CET result — how does counselling work?
After results, each state conducts its own counselling or seat-allotment process under a different name: Maharashtra runs CAP (Centralised Admission Process) rounds; Karnataka KEA does option entry and mock/final allotment rounds; Gujarat uses ACPC (Admission Committee for Professional Courses); Kerala CEE runs a centralised allotment process; and the two EAPCETs run web-options counselling. Is a CBSE or ICSE student eligible for state CETs?
Most state CETs allow CBSE and ICSE students to apply, but eligibility conditions — especially around domicile, board recognition, and how marks are converted — vary by state and exam. Kerala KEA (KCET) had a verified portal for auto-fetching CBSE and ICSE marks in the 2026 cycle. Maharashtra MHT-CET and WBJEE also accept CBSE/ICSE students under their stated eligibility rules. Always read the current official notification to confirm whether your board and domicile situation qualifies.
Do all state CETs have negative marking?
Negative marking rules differ by exam. WBJEE Paper 1 (Mathematics) has negative marking for Category I questions but not Category II. MHT-CET does not have negative marking. KCET does not have negative marking. KEAM does not have negative marking. GUJCET does not have negative marking. TG EAPCET and AP EAPCET do not have negative marking.
